MAINTENANCE

AAA Approved Auto Repair Maintenance in Chicago

Preventative maintenance keeps your vehicle running dependably through all the stages of its life.

We do it all—from oil changes to any preventative or factory-recommended maintenance service. Service maintenance needs vary by manufacturer and vehicle model, so see your car’s manufacturer’s service manual to learn about the regular services your car will need and for more details.

Oil Changes

On most cars, oil changes should be done every 3,000 miles from the previous oil change or at the manufacturer's requirements. A good oil life protects and prevents any internal damage to the engine components.

Transmission Fluid Service

When servicing your vehicle’s transmission, whether it needs just a flush or a full tune-up, we know it’s best to always use the specific oil the manufacturer requests and to follow any other specifications they make. And whenever you need to check your car’s transmission fluid yourself, remember that on most cars, it should only be checked while the engine is running.

Radiator Coolant Power Flush

Power flushes are always recommended when winterizing vehicles (preparing them for Chicago’s winters), and to maintain a car’s cooling/heating system performance.

Thermostats should be checked as often as the manufacturer states (see your car’s owner’s manual), and should be replaced as needed to prevent your car from overheating and to keep the heating system running efficiently.

Belts

All engine belts should be inspected regularly to avoid unwanted noises (squeaks, grinding, etc.), and to avoid any damage to belt pulleys and tensioners (which keep the belts taut and in place). Timing belts must be replaced according to the manufacturer’s mileage specifications in order to avoid any damage to your car’s engine and pistons.

TIP: Whenever your timing belt needs to be replaced, always ask your technician to check to see if the water pump needs to be replaced too. (They’re located right next to each other in the engine. To get to the water pump, you have to take out the timing belt.) This prevents the possibility of having your mechanic do, essentially, the same service twice.

Tire Rotation

No matter what kind of car you drive, the tires on your car should be rotated every 5,000 miles. This service prolongs the thread life of your tires and protects and ensures good wheel alignment.
